IT IS FINALLY OFFICIAL!

The RUMC Solar Array on the Fellowship Hall roof

was turned on as of 10/31/2024,

producing free electrical power for the church.

Thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), tax exempt, non-profit, organizations are able, for the first time, to benefit from the 30% tax credit through a Direct Payment from the IRS. Additionally, the Department of Energy (DOE) can award a 10% bonus payment to non-profit organizations that are located in low income designated areas. Because Remington falls within this area, we were able to apply for this bonus. We had to be patient, because it took DOE almost three months to approve our application, but it finally came through.  Since then, we have been waiting for our power company, Dominion Energy, to install special solar meters at the church. On October 31, Dominion Energy informed us that we are now fully approved to turn on the system. In summary, our RUMC Solar Array consisting of 45 solar panels and 45 micro-inverters is operating and will be producing electricity for the next 25 plus years. Our government will pick up 40% of the cost of the system, and based on projections, our electric bill savings will pay off the balance of the cost in about eight years.

We encourage our church family to get together outside of worship times.

Our church offers a range of social, learning and volunteer events

that help strengthen our members as individuals and as a community.
